With the release of WP Guardian 1.3 a little more than a week away, we really want to know what people want to see in WP Guardian 1.4. We don’t get as many feature requests as we’d like from customers, so we’re opening this up to everyone. There is always room for improvement, so let the ideas rip.
What feature(s) does the ideal CPA gateway have that WP Guardian does not? If someone comes up with a particularly tasty feature, we’ll toss them a free copy of WP Guardian when 1.3 comes out if they don’t already own it or a full refund if they do. You get to help us develop a better plugin AND you get it for free. We’re all about the win-win situations here at blackhatzen. Post your ideas as comments here or email them to us by clicking on that little “Questions” tab on the left-hand side of your screen.
I would like to be able to customize the “post protected” pop-up so that it can look however you want it to. This would help me so much!
We’ve definitely thought of this. What level of customization are you thinking? The ability to just drop raw HTML into the advertisement or more along the lines of adjusting the current elements (lock image, ad background color, etc) to better match your page?
Well, what I personally want is a place to put html that supports embedding images and maybe a customizable “Unlock The Content” button. But I would be satisfied with just being able to customize the current elements by upload pictures for unlock image and adjusting background image and fonts from the admin page.
We will definitely look into improving the control over the appearance of advertisements in future versions. In the initial beta’s, we included this capability, but opted for a simpler user experience. I’m certain we can find a middle-ground though.
Thanks!
I agree with this… this would be an awesome feature to be able to edit layout preferences such as background colors and so on
1)love to have the faker allow iframing with encrypted javascript to protect the source code to keep the user in the dark with the url.
2)pass along subids/variables so if I use prosper or another tracking source to pass along to the affiliate network so I can still track my bh traffic
3)turn referrers(from say multiple linkwheel blogs) to a subid(example 1826) that gets passed to the affiliate network so I can determine which faked traffic converts
4)redirect based on geo ip or user agent/referrer(good for blocking city/state affiliate network or program is in)
5)statistics,referrers and etc…
This is for improvements to WP Guardian specifically, not Referer Guardian.
If your CPA company supports it, you can easily pass along subids and variables with the current version of WP Guardian by using GET parameters. For more information on individual companies subid parameters you should either contact your AM or checkout the SubIDs page created by the developers of Prosper202.
You can easily redirect based on country with the current version of WP Guardian. State support could be implemented, but might be further down the line as it doesn’t effect anywhere near as many users as country codes do.
We have plans to incorporate statistics into both WP Guardian and Referer Guardian, though I doubt it will be for the WP Guardian 1.4 release.
Thank you for your comments.
I already owned WP Guardian and feature that I would like to see is automatically locked post based on date. For example, I would like 5 recents post unlock but all older posts locked. Or all posts older than 7 days locked.
So, we can attract visitors for our fresh content.
Thanks for the comment. We’re adding category-based blocking in 1.3 and date-based blocking is definitely in our development timeline for a future version. What level of control would you like to see? Something along the lines of “Older Than” and “Newer Than” with a preset for the range (“1 day”, “1 week”, “1 month”, etc) or something that is a bit more flexible?
like I mention above, at least two option ie older than, newer than, and also lock all posts except recent 10 posts or if possible lock only 10 most popular posts, most commented posts.
I use wp-guardian in many sites. I have more than 15 ads to be rotated in each site that targets different countries. So if I create one more wordpress blog I have to enter all those ads again. So it will be nice if there is a option to save those ads and can be used in other blogs too.
Not a bad idea. I’ll look into this. Maybe not for 1.4, but maybe 1.5?
I would really like to be able have pages on my WP sites locked and not just posts.
We’re releasing this feature in 1.3, which will be out on Saturday.
I Would LOVE to See Statistics, as well as GEO- Targeting implemented
WP Guardian did Geo-targeting in the original version. Let me know if you have any questions about that. We may add stats in a future version.
Hi, This is my suggestion. For some of us monetizing it throught CPA offers. We have visitors from different countries. Like US, UK, Germany etc.
Perhaps you can create an additional option that tells wpguardian which link group to pop-up based on the country of the person that comes to the site.
E.g, Link Group #1 contains all the ads geo-targeted to US traffic.
Link Group #2 contains all the ads geo-targeted to UK traffic.
And so on.
If its a UK visitor, he will ONLY see ads from group #2. Vice versa for any other countries and respective link groups. This would allow for the diversified traffic from different countries to be better monetized.
Regards
WP Guardian already does this sort of geo-targeting. Just add the country from the drop-down list and only people from that country will be displayed the links in the link group that you assign. Let me know if you have any issues figuring out how to use this.
Make an option for “password protecting” the post instead of using timed e-mail submits for content locking. I’ll reveal something here: premium SMS equals BIG money when done correctly. I can see WP guardian as perfect match with this.
I understand this is not pure CPA, but I’d assume a password protection for the content would be pretty simple to implement to WP guardian.
Locked post with a recent sex tape -> unlock it with 2$ SMS (the password comes as a reply). Trust me, this works. Would be nice to use this with a pro tool like WP guardian. I have other methods for this too.
cheers,
liz
Not a bad idea at all, Liz! We’re planning on implementing a locking methodology which would force users to sign-up as a member on the WP site to get to the content. Password protected posts wouldn’t be too hard to implement while doing this either.
Good stuff!
I think it will be cool if we can add banners instead of text links
That is something we can work on for a future version, for sure.
Hi!
I see that the license is for unlimited domains. You could maybe have different kinds of licenses, e.g. 1 domain, 100 domains and unlimited domains. All priced accordingly. With the implementation of a license code for each copy it could easily be done.
This is not so much of a WPG feature than it’s a marketing one. But I think both we, the customers, and you, the developers, could benefit from that kind of price structuring.
Cheers, Svetoslav
Also, I’d like to be able to mass-assign ads to post, be it from the Edit Post screen or from the Post Manager. It’s quite a bore when there are more than 50 posts to assign ads to.
Thanks for both comments. With category-based blocking, which we’ve added for today’s 1.3 release, you could easily setup mass blocking, but I’ll see if I can come up with an easy-to-use alternative to using categories.
Also, for the pricing structure, we’ll look into, but considering the current price point, I don’t know that offering a $10/single domain license would really be too much of a draw. There is also the issue of dealing with WordPress installations on shared hosting services that don’t necessarily have the frameworks installed necessary to “protect” that kind of code. Definitely something to look into though.
Thanks!
The Category manager was really quite a pleasant surprise
Even better than what I was thinking of
I have a couple more ideas:
1) It’d be nice if we had an overview of the posts/categories and the ads assigned to them, like you can see the tags or categories in the Edit Post menu. Because very often I find myself clicking on every post (now category
) from the drop-down list and checking if the correct ads are assigned (I’m anal-retentive, I know).
2) When the user clicks on the link, the text changes to something like: “Thank you …bla bla bla… wait n minutes/seconds and the page will unlock” or something along these lines, or, even better, make it user defined, just like the first part. This would be totally awesome and I think it would drastically improve conversions. Also, you can make a screen that says something like: “Checking to see if you have completed the offer” or something similar.
And finally, make an option to LIST all the offers, not in a drop down, but simple text links.
Oh, and, I had a minor issue recently – when I tried to make several links with the same name only with different links, it simply deleted all the links but one. It’s not that big of an issue because I can simply change the name of the offers, but still, something to be aware of.
That’s what I thought off in the past couple of days.
Cheers!
I’ve come up with a couple more ideas.
1) Make it possible to assign some kind of a priority to links. Because I may have an offer that is high paying, but I haven’t tested it yet, and I want to make it so every 10-th visitor sees it. Something along these lines.
2) And I’d also like more fields in the link section.
Cheers!
I would like to see a feature that allows you to let certain user groups access the content without having to fill out the submits or whatever. This would be useful for people who have donors or mods helping out with the site(s) and you don’t want to force them to go through this.
If this is already available, then ignore me
Haven’t purchased yet, just waiting to see if this is possible currently!
