As we started to discuss on Monday, there are a few tricks you can use to boost the weight of your backlinks in the eyes of Google. Before we discuss what exactly those tricks are, we need to analyze the site we want to have ranking higher. First and foremost, before launching any SEO campaign, it is important to know the keywords that you want to rank for. Not knowing your goal is the kiss of death for any SEO campaign. It is sometimes helpful to write down the list as they come to you. Tools like the SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool and the free version of WordTracker can be very helpful when coming up with a list of keywords.
With your keyword list in hand, hit Google and begin searching for each of the keywords. Copy and paste the top 10-20 results for each of your keywords into a separate list. After you’ve finished collecting your site list, go to Yahoo! Site Explorer and search for each URL on your list.
Once you’ve completed the search, click the Inlink button on the following page. Then, select “Except from this domain” from the Show inlinks drop down and “Entire Site” from the to drop down. Begin to look through the kinds of sites that you’re competitors are getting links from. Are most of them WordPress comments? Make a note of that. Are they doing social bookmarking? Make a note of that. Are they getting a lot of back links from spammy forums? Make a note of that.
Now, do the same for your own site. This time, export that list to a tab-separated values file by click the Export first 1000 results to TSV link.
On Friday, we’ll begin discussing how to begin boosting your link profile by leveraging your competitor’s link profiles.
We’re proud to announce that we’ve struck a deal with hosting company SolidBoxes owned by the highly respected wiredmom of BlackHatWorld fame. All Forum Generator customers will receive a 35% discount on an Advanced Hosting plan from SolidBoxes.
I frequently hear people saying that they look at the backlinks of pages that rank well for highly competitive keywords and that it is evident that quantity of links trumps quality of links. If you do a little digging, you’ll see that often these links come from spammy content posted on trusted, authoritative domains. There is no denying that low quality links can assist with increasing rank, but that doesn’t account for the results that some of these black hatters are able to get. What I hope to convey in this series is that with a bit of creativity, you can turn those spam links into something much more powerful.
Before we begin, it goes without saying that ideally a linkbed should build over time and that these backlinks should come from trusted sites in your niche or market. These kinds of backlinks will always be better received by Google and company. The problem is that quality link-building is a long term process and quite frankly, some of us aren’t patient. With that said, we’re going to show you a way you can cheat by making the backlinks you already have gain more weight in the eyes of the search engines. Believe it or not, understanding how to perform a simple trick can make the difference between your sites sitting firmly in the top 5 and floundering about in the top 100.
Stay tuned, because on Wednesday we’ll discuss how to analyze your current web properties to assess the links you already have and as well as a way to leverage the links of your competition.
Well, sort of …
We’re in the process of restructing our business. With the success of Forum Generator, our flagship SEO power tool and automated content generator, we realized that we need more room to grow. A few members of blackhatzen staff are in the process of incorporating a new business which will, in effect, purchase blackhatzen. All of the same people will still be involved in the business, but these structural changes will allow us to seriously expand our business.
What does that mean to our customers and fans? It means more cutting edge intelligent tools and updates, more creative ideas, more free content and code, and even better customer support than our first-rate support staff already offer. We’re all very excited about these changes and while we can’t quite give you all of the details right now, we think you’ll all be very pleased with the outcome.
As some of you have so kindly mentioned via Twitter and email, we’ve really been really slacking on posting new content to our blog over the past few months. Between working and testing Forum Generator updates, trying to provide the best support a small company can offer, actively learning and trying new techniques, AND spending time enjoying the summer with our friends and families, we just haven’t had time. That is all going to change.
As one part of our transition, our good friend trophaeum, programmer, confessed statistics geek, automation philosopher, and the system administrator of BlackHatWorld has agreed to begin regularly writing and posting articles on various highly effective SEO, CPA, and PPC topics here. We’re excited to see what he comes up with and know that we’re all in for some really good material. We’ve decided to start posting something on Monday’s, Wednesday’s, and Friday’s. If we don’t hit our mark, be sure to let us know by yelling at us on Twitter or posting some comments here on the blog.
Earlier this week, we were able to secure a hosting deal for our Forum Generator customers. We negotiated a 30% off discount on hosting that we’ve been assured will never kill your cron jobs or complain about your Forum Generator processes like all of the lame shared hosts out there. We’ll be sending out a newsletter to customers next week with more details.
In other Forum Generator news, a BIG update is on the horizon. We’ve completely redesigned the interface, altered the way users will interact with keywords and links, added in a forum user registration drip so fake users will register over time, implemented random avatar assignment, added even MORE content sources, along with some minor bug fixes and neat new features that our users have requested.
The price is currently only $119.97 but that won’t last much longer. Remember that all Forum Generator customers are entitled to free updates, so don’t be afraid to get in on this great deal before the price increases again.
From all of us here at blackhatzen, to all of you out there in Internet-land, we thank you for your support and look forward to the future!
After a few months of user beta testing, we’ve just released Forum Generator 1.1! It contains new features that will allow your forums to generate more, on-topic content with a higher level of control than any other forum content generation solution available.
